Sri Lanka blasts: Bangladeshi boy Zayan Chowdhury laid to rest

An eight-year-old relative of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is among the 45 children who were killed in the recent bomb blasts in Sri Lanka.

Ruling Awami League leader Sheik Fazlul Karim Selim’s grandson Zayan Chowdhury was killed while having breakfast with his father at a hotel in Colombo. Chowdhary was also a relative of British Labour MP Tulip Siddiq.

Zayan’s body has arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday around 12.45pm. Relatives bid adieu to the young soul at Sheikh Selim’s Banani residence, before being taken Chairman Bari playground for the janaza, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Zayan is one of the two sons of Sheik Selim’s daughter Sheika Amena Sultana Sonia. The boy’s father Mashiul Haque Chowdhury is still in critical condition and undergoing treatment at a Colombo hospital.
