Ranveer Singh with Maneesh Sharma and Divyag Thakkar

Ranveer Singh, who was last seen in Gully Boy (2019), has completed shooting for his forthcoming film Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Announced on 27th May 2019, the movie began production in December last year.

It stars Shalini Pandey as the female lead opposite Singh. Pandey rose to fame after playing the lead role in Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy (2017), which was later remade as Kabir Singh (2019) in Hindi. She is making her Bollywood debut with Jayeshbhai Jordaar.

Announcing the completion of the film, filmmaker Maneesh Sharma said that Ranveer has delivered his career’s best performance. “We have finished shooting Jayeshbhai Jordaar and I will stick my neck out to say that Ranveer has delivered his career-best performance with this film. When we set out to make the film, we had visualised the characters in a certain way. Ranveer, with his performance, has taken the film to the next level,” said the filmmaker.

For the uninitiated, Sharma and Singh began their career together with Yash Raj Films’ Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010. After the huge success of the film, the duo collaborated on Ladies vs Ricky Bahl in 2011. They are reteaming after a gap of nine years.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar marks the directorial debut of Divyang Thakkar who is also the writer of the film. The movie revolves around a Gujarati man who becomes an unlikely hero after championing women empowerment in his home town.

Made under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Jayeshbhai Jordaar also features Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in important roles. The movie is expected to roll into theatres in 2020 itself. However, the makers are yet to announce the official release date.
