Bangladeshi star actor Ferdous Ahmed has been forced to leave India after he was discovered campaigning for a candidate from the opposition All India Trinamool Congress party, officials at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata said.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs cancelled his business visa and blacklisted the actor, reports said.

Ahmed was seen campaigning for TMC’s Raniganj candidate Kanhaiyalal Agarwal across Hemtabad and Karandighi near the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The action came a day after India’s main ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a complaint to the election commission accusing TMC leader and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee for violating the Model Code of Conduct.
