Fans select their favourite Sonu Nigam hits ahead of UK tour

Sonu Nigam

By: Asjad Nazir

SONU NIGAM, one of the greatest Indian singers of all time, is renowned for his wonderful voice, huge catalogue of hit songs, numerous accolades, and millions of fans globally.

He is also an exceptional live performer who delivers sold-out arena shows around the world.

Nigam returns for another UK tour, commencing in London on Friday (29). This will be followed by shows in Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham.

Ahead of the blockbuster live events, Eastern Eye asked fans on social media platform X to suggest special songs by the singing superstar for his UK tour.

@AbhiKalse: Is Pyaar Ko Main Kya Naam Doon from Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai is my favourite because it has been sung so passionately by Sonu Nigam.

@AttitudeKnight: There are many favourites, but the Kal Ho Na Ho title track hits hard. It touches your heart like no song does. It’s just timeless.

@PrasenjiTweets: Jal Jal Ke Dhuan, Dhalne Lagi Hai Raat and Cham Cham (are the songs I love).

@purvs3: Abhi Mujhme Kahin. He deserved the award for that song. It touches the core of my heart and there isn’t one instance when I hear it and my eyes aren’t moist.

@Crystal_Krish4r: His whole Jaan album. Ab Mujhe Raat Din from his Deewana album. I also like his film songs Main Agar Kahoon and Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu.

@hansadhwani22: Abhi Mujhme Kahin from Agneepath always makes me cry.

@iDanPrakash: Too many to name, but You Are My Soniya from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a nostalgic banger and childhood gem.

@ImShreyasKonica: All his Kannada songs are just lit. Some of his Bengali songs will always stay with me. There will be millions of singers, but no one can find another version of him. May God bless him.

@KVaflaatoon9: His comfort language is Hindi, yet I love and appreciate his effortless voice delivery for Hirava Nisarg Ha Bhavatine from Marathi movie Navra Maza Navsacha.

@sauravkr821: Mujhe Raat Din, the Apne (film) title track and Pyaar Bhara Geet featuring Shreya Ghosal. I also like Ek Saathi Aur Bhi Tha. I can’t describe in words why I like his songs.

@Rakshipriya: Ab Mujhe Raat Din is a very old underrated gem. I also like Tumse Milke (from Main Hoon Na).

@sohankailey: Too many to mention. I’d say Yeh Dil, Deewana, Deewana Hai Yeh Dil. His vocal style is different here – quite choppy, contemporary style! There are many more songs.

@SweetySg4: Abhi Mujhme Kahin instils in me the spirit to move forward and have the courage to never give up.

@sriiishtii_: Tumse Milke Dil Ka (from Main Hoon Na), including his ‘haaye’ has a different fandom.

@MeanMithu: Kal Ho Naa Ho and Abhi Mujhme Kahin – I love the philosophy of both. Also was hearing some of his earlier songs and fell in love with his voice in (the album) Deewana.

@iSangitaC: Abhi Mujhme Kahin, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Suraj Hua Maddham, Inn Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein and Tanhayee are a few of them I love. The lyrics and music definitely played a strong part, but his voice is enough to love these songs.

@khushi2weets: No one can ever be Sonu Nigam. The proof – you just pick a random word ‘Dil’ and you get such a variety of songs sung so beautifully by him.

@QueSeraSera___x: Sandese Aate Hai. The way he brought out the softer side of the tough men through his voice was beautiful.

@sapna_rain: I heard Kal Ho Naa Ho when I was young on the radio and ever since then I have been in love with his voice.

@iPriyankaBhatt: Abhi Mujhme Kahin from Agneepath. They say music can heal you, and I totally agree. This song always leaves me feeling a little lighter and a bit more like myself. It’s just beautiful.
