Covid-19: highest number of infections in 24hrs, for second consecutive day

The death toll now stands at 582, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.

Two thousand five hundred and twenty-three tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of infections detected in a day in the country for the second consecutive day — over 2000 cases were reported yesterday as well.

With this, the total number of infected has reached 42,844.

A total of 11,301 samples were tested in 49 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 590 Covid-19 patients have recovered since yesterday, taking the total number of recovered patients to 9,015, the DGHS official added.

This is the highest number of recoveries detected in a day so far.

A total of 328 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.

Among the deceased, 19 were male and four female, she said, adding that 10 were from Dhaka, nine from Chattogram, two from Rangpur, one from Barishal and another one was from Sylhet division.

Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, one within 21-30, two were between 31-40 and five between 41-50 years, five within 51-60, six between 61-70 years, two within 71-80 and the other was between 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
