Bangladesh reports 47 virus deaths, 2,666 cases in daily count

Forty-seven people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing.

The death toll now stands at 2,352 and the death rate at 1.21 percent.

Two thousand six hundred and sixty-six people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The current infection rate is 24.11 percent and the total number of infections in the country is 1,83,795.

The total infection rate so far stands at 19.54 percent.

A total of 11,059 samples were tested in 77 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 5,580 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, the DGHS said today.

The total number of recoveries has reached 93,614 and the current recovery rate is 50.93 percent.

A total of 737 people were put under isolation across the country in the last 24 hours.

Among the deceased, 36 were male; 23 were from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, six from Khulna, four from Sylhet, four from Rajshahi, two from Rangpur and two others from Barishal divisions.

Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, two between 21-30, three were between 31-40, four within 41-50, 15 between 51-60, 14 between 61-70, six within 71-80 and two were 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.

Forty-three among them died at different hospitals while four died at home, she said adding 50 percent deaths were reported from Dhaka division and 26.28 percent from Chattogram division and 2.34 percent from Mymensingh division.
