Bangladesh minister, who died on Saturday, tested positive for Covid-19

BANGLADESH state minister for religious affairs Sheikh M Abdullah, who died on Saturday (13), tested positive for Covid-19. He was 75.

Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, state minister for shipping, has confirmed the report.

Chowdhury said that the hospital authorities had collected the sample for Abdullah’s Covid–19 test.

Minister Abdullah died at about 11:45pm from a cardiac arrest, his assistant personal secretary Sheikh Nazmul Haq Saikat, informed reporters.

The technocrat state-minister Abdullah was admitted to the hospital with some health complications including high diabetic on Saturday evening.

Bangladesh topped China in terms of detected Covid-19 cases.

The total cases in the country stand at 84,379 with 1,139 deaths. As many as 17,827 people have recovered from the disease, the health ministry data showed.
